At BlueCity they are building without waste. BlueCity is named BlueCity because we base our activities mostly on the principles of the blue economy: they work with local products, believe in cooperation instead of competition, and create endless circles of value.

They learn from nature. In nature there is no waste.

The current method of producing, consuming and disposing of waste is unsustainable. Fortunately, more and more initiatives are emerging that show that waste is an unnecessary and human invention and that we can meet all our needs in a sustainable way.

rotterzwam grows oyster mushrooms on coffee grounds and coffee husks – residual products that are normally thrown away. From waste reduction to local food production, with maximum use of residual flows and great oyster mushrooms moreover – that is the blue economy in its entirety.
