why tropicana

After we looked through both of our research we knew that we wanted to go with the abandoned houses. What caught our attention the most was that in every image we found, nature started to take over the house again. That is a beautiful thing that a house is placed somewhere and after a long time nothing is done with it nature slowly takes over.

We started to look for places in Rotterdam that are abandoned. We directly came across Tropicana, it was a recreation resort, but know it is turning in to something very interesting; BlueCity.

BlueCity is an international icon of circular economy, a national platform for circular entrepreneurs, and a very visible local accelerator that empowers circular entrepreneurs and inspires citizens.
